What is an integrated led light? Simple Guide 2022

What is an integrated led light
What is an integrated led light?
In this modern age of energy efficiency, more and more commercial buildings are replacing their fluorescent and HID fixtures with LEDs. This upgrade is no problem for many, but the real question is which type of luminaire is right for you: for LED lamps or with built-in LEDs?

If you need LEDs, you have thousands of options. However, more and more often your choice branches off in two directions:

LED light bulbs or LED downlights

These lamps replace existing lamps, one by one. Where there are no existing lamps (new design), the description indicates which lamps are suitable for that lighting equipment, and then the specific lamp selection is given to you.

What is an integrated led light? Integrated LED luminaires, in which the housing and the LED element are one device. Such a lighting fixture is connected directly to the voltage on the track or main line.

Integrated LED products are relatively new to the market.  They are the future and may or may not be a good idea. We will evaluate the three main lighting applications that are seeing an influx of integrated options – track lights, spotlights and downlight recessed fixtures – as they are in use, where we recommend LED lamps versus LED recessed fixtures.

What is an integrated led light?

LED luminaires are any fixtures designed to be common with LED lamps. These fixtures do not usually come with LED bulbs. They allow any LED bulb to be common as long as it has the right shape, size, and wattage.

What is an integrated led light? This freedom of choice can be one of the biggest benefits to LED fixtures. Installation is comparable to LED recessed downlights. However changing just the bulb is much easier if you already have a downlight. LED luminaires also make them easier to upgrade when new technologies emerge.

What are LED luminaires?

Integrated LED luminaires are full-featured luminaires with built-in LED lamps. Unlike LED fixtures, the diodes in this type of fixture are designed with a specific Kelvin color temperature and Lumen output.

While these fixtures often have a higher upfront cost than regular LED fixtures, they also have a longer lifespan and efficiency compared to LED bulbs in other fixtures. Ballast compatibility issues are also eliminated as it is an all-in-one system.

What do you need in integrated led light?

When deciding which fixture is the best choice for your building or space, there are a few things to consider. First, do you need current fixtures for a major overhaul? Sometimes, if you combine repair costs with the cost of LED lamps, it is worth simply replacing the entire lamp with a built-in LED lamp. Secondly, what standards should your fixtures meet? Finally, are you looking into discount opportunities?

Track lights

Hugely popular in retail due to its flexibility and portability, track lights refer to a lighting system in which electricity along a power line runs along the ceiling. Spotlights attached to the track anywhere along its length are easy to move and reconfigured as desired.

In the LED lamp option, each track head is equipped with a lamp with the desired output, beam and color temperature specifications. LED lamps are widely available for this kind of equipment.

What is an integrated led light? An integrated LED track light includes an LED chip or chips installed directly into the housing. There is no qualitative difference in the light.

An additional problem here is the cost of maintenance. When an LED lamp fails, it simply needs to be replaced. In an integrated solution, you now need to replace the entire instrument.

Downlights and  integrated led light

A “spot” lamp is a small round lamp recessed into the ceiling. They are designed to accommodate directional and general lighting. May or may not have lenses.

The integrated version simply involves installing one product in a hole in the ceiling and connecting it to the main line electricity.

Recessed ceiling lights

The struggle for an LED recessed luminaire solution is one of the toughest in today’s market. Square or rectangular recessed ceiling light recessed into your office ceiling containing 2 to 4 fluorescent bulbs.

What is an integrated led light? In the case of an LED lamp solution, you remove the fluorescent and install LED lamps. Sometimes you need to replace your existing lamp ballast and install an LED compatible one, other times you need to wire around the ballast, but more and more no electrical changes are needed at all. It is pretty simple and easy.

The implementation of the LED integrated light includes the removal of lamps, panels, connectors and wiring. Subsequently, the LED product is inserted into a rectangular hole in the ceiling, connected to the main line, and fixed to the T-rack.

Where we can install integrated led light?

What is an integrated led light? Recessed ceiling lights are one of the equipment where the right choice between integrated products and LED lamps installed in traditional fixtures depends on whether it is a new design or retrofit.

If the project is a new space and it requires the purchase of fixtures from scratch anyway, the difference between an integrated LED fixture and a regular one will be minimal.

The lighting industry is facing a math conundrum with the advent of LEDs – the technology has skyrocketed the prices of products sold, but the durability of these products will quickly reduce sales.

What are the applications of integrated led light?

In response, the industry will continually release new products, hoping that users will replace their LEDs due to obsolescence well before their end-of-life. Some product innovations, such as equipping lamps with communication capabilities, will be extremely beneficial to users.

Others, such as integrating LEDs into the track, won’t. Our advice is to focus on brands known for quality lightweight and reliable products.

What is an integrated led light? Our customers often ask themselves: what to do if the integrated LED burns out? And most importantly, can it even burn out? After all, LEDs are primarily saving on electricity, and if the LED fails, this saving comes to naught and creates unnecessary costs.

There is an unequivocal answer to this question – yes, the LED can burn out, but everything is not as simple as it seems at first glance. First of all, it is worth understanding why LEDs fail, and why, in our products, this tends to zero.

Miser pays twice

One of the main reasons for the failure of LEDs is their poor quality.

What is an integrated led light? Some manufacturers may specifically tune the LEDs so that they shine brighter than they should, for a more impressive effect. But what value?

In order not to make the product more expensive, not to install more powerful LEDs, not to use LEDs with a more giving phosphor, they simply adjust the voltage stabilization so that the LEDs shine at full strength, without a margin of safety.
